Happy First Birthday

Now I am one, and look at what I can do! I can hold my own hairbrush and toothbrush and try to do that myself. I'll try to dress myself, though I won't really manage it! I'll try and hold my spoon myself and will manage to feed myself, though I need help getting the food onto the spoon. I can point out lots of objects if you name them for me in my book and I'll get them all right. I can say a few words too duck, dog, Daddy, shoe, teddy! I can crawl, in fact I can almost walk, especially if there are other bigger children around who are watching me. I can sing and dance in my own way, and I can play the piano in my own way too. I love too see dogs in the park,and I know what sound they make. I can even make that sound myself. When you come to wake me up after my nap I'll quickly look around for my teddies, and then I'll offer them up to you to give them a kiss. I'll kiss them too, or any pictures of babies in books. I love other children, especially slightly older ones. I'll give them my best smile and hope that they will smile back at me.I don't really know what else to do with them yet! If I get close to them I'll try to touch their faces and if they do something funny for me I'll laugh. I'm beginning to learn the actions to a few of my favourite songs and rhymes. I love the bath, and love splashing. I love presents, and I love the paper that they are wrapped in. I love books and newspapers and anything that I can turn the pages of. I love the swings, and now I'm beginning to like the slide. Soon I'll be able to walk, and then the fun will really begin!
